What is Diabetes?

Diabetes mellitus, also know as DIABETES  a metabolic / chronic diseases  that occurs when
the pancreas is no longer able to make insulin, or when the body cannot make good use of
the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas, that acts like a key to
let glucose from the food we eat pass from the blood stream into the cells in the body to
produce energy. Not being able to produce insulin or use it effectively leads to raised glucose
levels in the blood. Over the long-term high glucose levels are associated with damage to the
body and failure of various organs and tissues.

Type 1 diabetes

Type 1 diabetes was formerly called "juvenile diabetes" mostly affect on children or teens. It is usually caused by an auto-immune reaction where the body’s defense system attacks the cells that produce insulin. People with type 1 diabetes produce very little or no insulin.  People with this form of diabetes need injections of insulin every day in order to control the levels of glucose in their blood. The beta cells  in pancreas are being attacked by body's own cells and therefore can't produce insulin to take sugar out of the blood stream. The exact cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown, but there is a strong hereditary link and it may be an autoimmune disorder.

Type 2 diabetes

is the most common form of diabetes, also called adult onset diabetes,   the body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, your pancreas makes extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time it isn't able to keep up and can't make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose at normal levels. The diagnosis of type 2 diabetes can occur at any age. Type 2 diabetes may remain undetected for many years and the diagnosis is often made when a complication appears or a routine blood or urine glucose test is done. It is often, but not always, associated with overweight or obesity, which itself can cause insulin resistance and lead to high blood glucose levels. People with type 2 diabetes can often initially manage their condition through exercise and diet. However, over time most people will require oral drugs and or insulin.

Gestational diabetes (GDM)

is a form of diabetes consisting of high blood glucose levels during pregnancy. It is associated with complications to both mother and baby. GDM usually disappears after pregnancy but women with GDM and their children are at an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.

Complication of Diabetes

Diabetes can cause very  serious health problems. It is most dangerous when it is poorly controlled and manage. Once detected,  individual are advised to  manage their blood glucose levels,  to  avoid more serious complications such as vision problem or loose of eyesight, kidney disease or failure, heart problem, lower limb amputation due to severe wounds, and comas. But most or all of these  serious potential complications can be avoided, Patient must discover new ways of alternative treatment (holistic) while being (not be) dependent on medical practitioner.Be informed, and try other product such as herbal food supplement that are being used in other country.
